Quite a few of my massage clients come to me for help with neck pain. This can be caused by sleeping in an awkward position or incorrect posture while sitting at a desk or computer.

Having a dull ache in your neck will really affect you and it can feel unbearable. Your instinct will be to keep your neck still as much as possible but this doesn’t help and can make you feel worse.

To help provide you with as much relief as possible, both during and after your massage, I will work on your whole back and both shoulders. Sometimes the pain is just a symptom of an issue in another area of your body.

During the massage, we’ll talk about the possible cause of your pain and discuss ways in which you can help it outside of the massage.

These could be:

  • Using a low, firm pillow to keep your neck at the same height as the rest of your body
  • Having a firm mattress
  • Taking shorts breaks away from your desk during the day
  • Sitting up straight then taking a few deep breaths in order to relax and feel your shoulders drop
  • Managing stress levels
  • Being aware of your neck position and your posture when using a smart phone

Alleviating muscle tension and reducing pain are just some of the benefits from having a regular massage. It also helps to improve your overall health and well-being as well as enhancing your quality of life and the decisions you make each day. This will also have an affect on the life of your loved ones.
